The Richardson Highway @ Trims DOT Maintenance Station RWIS ESS is
located on the left side of the northbound Richardson Highway in
front of the Trims DOT Maintenance Station. The RWIS ESS is
in an open area with a wind shield surrounding the tipping bucket
precipitation gauge. There is no camera at this site.
However, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aviation Cameras
at Isabell Pass and Black Rapids can provide nearby images.
The pavement sensor lines were severed; new pavement sensors will
be installed in 2015.
The route from Paxson to Delta Junction has limited meteorological
data that is needed for travel decisions and for the National
Weather Service to generate forecasts and warnings. The area
is particularly susceptible to high winds and blowing snow.
Conversely, relatively warm rain on snowfields can result in
flooding problems on the many creeks and rivers. For example,

One Mile Creek at MP 228.4 is said to be impacted by flash floods
